Witness Tree Sensorium

Witness Tree Sensorium was commissioned by Harvard Forest in 2023 as a 3D visualization of an oak tree's journey across multiple years of sensor tracking. The 110-y-o tree, located in the Nipmuc land in Massachusetts, is a live witness to and participant in phenological and climate changes. The tree as an eco-being in many environments as well as an environment for many beings transforms perspectives to forests and environments once we cease to presume consciousness is exclusive to the human life. Using a photogrammetry reconstruction of the tree, my visualization is based on collected data reflected through the tree's annual cyclic growth and reactions to weather changes on varying scales of time: day, month, and 7 years. The video below will be updated soon.
